Materials are crucial for retro-style sneakers for women. The velvety texture of suede has a special vintage charm. Nubuck leather is fine and extremely comfortable. Distressed leather, with its natural age marks, tells a story. Canvas works too, complementing both casual and retro styles.

We put a lot of thought into the distressing process. The color rubbing has to look natural, not deliberately applied. The edge frosting must be just right, simulating shoes worn for many years. Too new, and it lacks character; too old, and it looks cheap. We experimented many times before finally getting it right.

We also considered the soles. A too-modern sole wouldn't suit retro shoes. We specifically designed the tread pattern and adjusted the thickness. It needed to be slip-resistant and comfortable, yet still look like something from that era. The final product has a unified style from sole to upper.
